Newborn Session FAQ

When should I book my newborn session?
The best time to reach out is during your second trimester, as soon as you know your due date. We’ll plan around that date and confirm the exact session timing after your baby arrives. Last-minute openings sometimes happen, so it is always worth asking.
When is the best time to photograph a newborn?
Posed newborn portraits are usually created when your baby is about 5–21 days old, when sleepy, curled-up poses are most natural. In-home lifestyle sessions can be scheduled more flexibly during the first several weeks.
What happens if my baby arrives early or late?
That is completely normal. Your due date is a planning point, not a fixed appointment. Once your baby arrives, let me know and we’ll adjust the session timing around recovery, feeding, and what feels best for your family.
Should I choose a studio or in-home lifestyle session?
Choose the studio for softly posed portraits, styled setups, and access to wraps and props. Choose an in-home lifestyle session for a relaxed, connection-focused story in your own space. Both experiences are baby-led, with time for feeding and soothing.
How long does a newborn session take?
Newborn sessions are intentionally unhurried. Depending on the collection and whether you choose studio or lifestyle, plan for about 90 minutes to four hours. That extra space allows us to follow your baby’s rhythm instead of rushing.
What if my baby needs to feed, be changed, or will not settle?
That is expected. Feeding, changing, cuddling, and soothing breaks are part of the session. Your baby leads the pace, and there is no pressure to make them sleep or perform on a schedule.
Can parents and siblings be included?
Yes, family participation is available in select newborn collections. The Signature collection includes baby and parents with light sibling participation, while the Heirloom collection includes baby, parents, and siblings with more time and variety.
What should we wear and bring?
Keep clothing simple, comfortable, and coordinated rather than matching. Soft neutrals and earthy tones photograph beautifully, but choose colors that feel like you. I’ll provide preparation guidance; bring feeding supplies, diapers, a pacifier if used, and anything your baby needs to feel comfortable.
